Event privacy

Public vs. private DJ profiles, public vs. private events, and how passwords work for each.

Public DJ vs. private DJ

Your profile can be public or private. This is separate from whether each event is public or private.

Public DJ

When your profile is public, you appear on the public /events page. Anyone can discover your profile and your events there. You do not need a profile password; guests can open your event links without entering any password to reach your profile or events (unless an event itself is password-protected).

Set this in DJ Admin → Profile: turn on “Public Profile” to be visible on /events.

Private DJ

When your profile is private, you are not shown on the /events page. Only people who have your profile link (or event link) can try to access your events. Private DJs are required to set a profile password (sometimes called the “Public Profile Password”) and share it with their guests. Guests must enter this password to view your profile and events.

Set this in DJ Admin → Profile: turn off “Public Profile” and set a Profile Password. Share that password with anyone who should be able to see your events.

Public vs. private events

Each event can also be public or private (password-protected). This is configured per event in the event settings.

Public event

No event password. Once someone can reach the event (after any profile password, if you’re a private DJ), they can request songs without entering another password.

Private event (event password)

You can password-protect an event so only guests with the event password can submit requests. In the event settings, enable password protection, set a password, and share it with attendees. Event password protection is free for all users. When someone opens the event link, they will be prompted to enter the event password before they can request songs.

How profile and event privacy work together

Profile (public/private DJ) and event (public/private event) combine as follows:

  • Public DJ + public event — You’re on /events; the event has no password. Anyone can find you and request songs (no passwords).
  • Public DJ + private event — You’re on /events; the event has a password. Anyone can find you, but guests must enter the event password to request songs (one password).
  • Private DJ + public event — You’re not on /events; the event has no password. Only people who have your profile (or event) link and your profile password can access your events and request songs (one password).
  • Private DJ + private event — You’re not on /events; the event has a password. Guests need two passwords: first the profile password to access your profile/events, then the event password to open that specific event and request songs (two passwords).

In short: public DJs don’t need a profile password and are visible on /events; private DJs are not on /events and must set a profile password for guests. Events can optionally have their own password on top of that.
